The Coleraine Chronicle

Causeway Coast and Glens Branch members copied all the Births, Deaths and Marriages from the first 25 years of the Coleraine Chronicle, from 1844 to 1869, and had published it in both book and CD form. Published in book form, and with announcements covering over 3,660 births, 8,890 deaths and 5,900 marriages, it is an enormous genealogical resource, not only for the general Coleraine area but for the many living in Australia, Canada, USA etc. who are researching ancestors from this area and far beyond. In the book the births and deaths are arranged alphabetically by surname and the marriages are indexed by bride and groom, to make searching easier. Newspaper dates, and full entry details are given.

Unfortunately this book is now out of print and our CD formats of this resource are now all sold out. However, we have combined the information on the Coleraine Chronicle and Londonderry Sentinel CDs onto a single USB drive. This is a very valuable resource for family history researchers, as it covers twenty years before civil registrations for births and deaths.

Londonderry Sentinel CD

Causeway Coast and Glens Branch has collected the Births, Deaths and Marriages from the early years of The Londonderry Sentinel, from 1829 to 1869. This is available from the Branch as a CD.

The first edition of the Londonderry Sentinel was published on 19th September 1829, price 5d, and following on the other two publications, the members of the branch chose as their next project the abstraction of the BMDs from that paper, covering the years from 1829 to 1869. Some 6,800 births, 18,700 deaths and 9,900 marriages, were carefully and acurately recorded and indexed.

In the CDs produced by the branch the data is available in both PDF and CSV format: births and deaths are arranged alphabetically, by surname and first name; the date of the newspaper is given, to enable the exact date of the event to be calculated; marriages are shown in the order and year in which they were entered, with an additional bride and groom index, covering all the entries, to make searching easier. It should be noted that in the case of births only the sex of the child is noted, not the first name.
